Kea Coloring Book – Virtual Coloring Book for Windows
Review by on
The computer can be a properly good replacement for a lot of things. It can replace your traditional radio – you can listen to radio online. It can replace your TV and DVD player – you can watch TV online or fit a TV card and watch TV on your computer, you can play DVDs on your computer. It can replace your diary – instead of writing your thoughts down in the traditional diary made of paper, you can write them down in a virtual diary that’s stored on your computer (and can be encrypted and password protected so only you have access to it).

The computer (again, with the right piece of software) can also replace your child’s traditional coloring book. It’s the diary story all over again – instead of letting your child color on a traditional coloring book, you can let your little one color on the PC.

You can do this with the Kea Software-developed application, the aptly named Kea Coloring Book. To my mind, getting this virtual coloring book as opposed to a traditional coloring book is a win-win situation. It is a win for you, the parent, because you don’t have to worry about your child making a mess. The program is compatible with almost any version of the Windows operating system, including XP and Windows 7. It has a straightforward installation process.

The software practically is a win for the child because Kea Coloring Book is a fun and educational coloring book that has been designed for children of all ages. The application is quite easy to use (it makes sense since it’s meant to be used by children), there are plenty of pictures to color and plenty more available for download, and drawings can be printed out, saved or emailed.

There is a configuration section for parents, that allows changing the program's functionality and also the look and feel.

Pros
It has a very simple interface, specially designed for children. Besides that, there are numerous images that can be colored. Furthermore, there is a special section for parents, which allows configuring the program.

Cons
There are only 15 coloring pages in the demo version. Besides that, the parent tools are disabled in the trial version.

Kea Coloring Book is a unique coloring application for kids of all ages.
